Internal Hydrostatic Pressure

Directly underneath the body’s outer layers of skin, the fascial network reveals internally regulated hydrostatic gas pressure. This becomes apparent during surgical interventions, when attempts are made to retract these initial layers of the fascial network called the underlying plane. The direct popping of air bubbles is heard when tissues are torn and broken releasing internally encapsulated gas volumes.

The connective tissue network is designed in such a way as to provide our organism with an internal hydrostatic pressure system. This system has multiple functions which penetrate the entire organism.

Without such a hydrostatic system, the body’s capacity for weight bearing would be unthinkable. The hydrostatic pressure encapsulated within intricate fractile tissues lends our body highly structurized resistance to the gravitational pull and allows the internal relative weightlessness needed for all stages of weight bearing - starting with lying passively on a surface and progressing up to the upright stance.

Compressional weakness of internal structures is a direct result of the body’s inability to hold a sufficient internal hydrostatic pressure.

In addition the health of any cell is determined by the ability of the cell membrane to maintain an internal hydrostatic pressure. This internal pressure of each individual cell membrane maintains cell function and prohibits unwished for osmotic exchange of the fluids between the cell and the interstitial fluids surrounding the cell.

The ABR Method recognizes the significance and importance of the body’s ability to hold an internal hydrostatic pressure in the manner described above. Therefore the ABR Technique is especially designed to initiate growth and development within the internal fascia tissue system that serves to maintain the body’s hydrostatic pressure.
